Horse Problem - Eyesight - How well do horses see?

QUESTION: Hi Sylvia. I know you are an expert in horsemanship/training and some of my questions may not center around that...But I will ask anyway. When it comes to a horse's vision, is it as sharp as human vision in the daytime? I have always thought their vision was a little fuzzy in the daylight compared to ours. I know their vision is good at night, much better than ours, or that's my understanding. I know when they see things they see it in a different way. Most of the time the horses that I deal with come to me by sight. So I am wondering am I fuzzy to them in the daylight? And do they really recognize me vs. someone else? It appears from dealing with them they know who their owner is.

REPLY: Horses see very well, so your horse recognizes you, I'm sure. One thing they have trouble with vision-wise is going from bright light into dark areas; it takes them a little longer than us to adjust to that. They see perfectly well at night, as well as we do in the daytime, believe it or not.
