"I attended a natural horsemanship training seminar last fall which was taught by Sylvia Scott. As I observed this seminar, I came to realize that the experts communicate with horses without needing to say (or whisper) a single word. Most all communication is done through body language and eye contact. Sylvia showed her true love for horses and her expert knowledge of them. She created a special bond that allowed the horses to interact with her. Through the use of Sylvia's successful techniques, she is able to communicate in an incredibly positive manner with these beautifully spirited creatures. I have included her techniques when working with my horses now and I have noticed a substantial increase in our interaction and communication. I have tried starting with a small task and gradually building up to the ultimate response that I want from them and it works. I try to groom all 10 of the horses at our barn on a regular basis and I have been amazed how saying “shhhhh” rather than “no” will give me the response that I am looking for — in a case of misbehavior. I was so glad that I found out about Sylvia's seminar and was able to attend. You will probably be surprised that my daddy who attended Sylvia's seminar with me (91 years old — who forgets lots of things these days) still tells our friends about “the lady in the blue shirt who made the horses do just about anything she wanted them to do.” Sylvia really made an impression!!!!
