LETTER OF THE MONTH:

October 2006

Sylvia, thank you so much for your web-site, my printer is running out of ink I have printed so much of it out - I took my sheaves of papers to the field with me today, and did a bit with the horse, had a drink of tea and a read of your stuff in the car while my horse digested it, then did a bit more, and it went really well (head lowering and yielding).

I was at the end of my tether, and have just spent £160 on a horse trainer that calls himself natural, who has left me after four hours (2 sessions) with a horse that kicks out at me when I go near his back end (I have never been kicked at before in the five years I've owned him). I feel so guilty as I let him abuse my horse, thinking maybe it was right as he is a dominant horse, and also did some of the stuff he was showing me.

I knew there had to be a better way, and now I have your teachings, I can't begin to tell you how grateful I am, and my horse already appears to have forgiven me, thank goodness.

There must be hundreds of horses that you've helped with your web site, it is the best one I've ever found, all my questions have been answered by it (and I had a lot).

Thank you thank you, God bless you.

Warmest regards,

A. C. - Yorkshire, England

LETTER OF THE MONTH:

October 2006

Sylvia, Thanks for hosting the clinic at your facility. I got home today and went to the barn and went through some of the things we learned yesterday. I was pleased at how well Jake did. It was fun to see him do so well. I bought your round pen video which already has been helpful for me. Look forward to seeing you again. peace,

LETTER OF THE MONTH:

October 2006

Hello, Sylvia and Daryl! I hope you remember me from the clinic a few weeks ago. Thank you both so very much for hosting it. I have been working with Willow using the techniques that were demonstrated by Ed Dabney and you, Sylvia, and the results are wonderful. I am assiduously promoting your facility, the clinic, and your techniques to everyone that will listen. We are looking forward to the clinic dates for 2007! Many thanks and I am looking forward to seeing you once again!

LETTER OF THE MONTH:

October 2006

We recently retired and decided, for the first time in our lives, to buy two horses and learn to ride. We bought two Tennessee Walkers: Rusty (8 years old) and Shiloh (6 years old). Shiloh, although a little spoiled, didn’t have any serious issues. Rusty, however, was an entirely different story. It was apparent he had been abused and was fearful of everything, including vets, farriers and more. We couldn’t even clean his back hooves. We scheduled their first vet visit and Rusty was terrified. He reared on the vet and had to be sedated to get his shots, but not without an unpleasant fight. We were told Rusty would probably have to be sedated every time the farrier worked on his hooves because of his massive fears there. We scheduled the vet to sedate Rusty on his first farrier visit with us and it was quite an experience, one we never wanted again! Being new to this we had no idea what to do.

We found Sylvia Scott on the internet a few days after that. Within two visits we were able to pick up all of Rusty’s feet. It also used to be a chore to get Rusty to come to us in the field. We took Rusty to Sylvia’s training center periodically and Sylvia has flushed out and fixed many issues in Rusty. He is now an entirely different horse! The last two appointments with the farrier have gone perfectly, no need for sedation, his fears completely gone there. He comes every time we call for him in the field, too. He is ridden several times a week now. You can tell he is a happy horse, he is so bonded to us and he trusts again.

We can’t imagine what would have happened if we hadn’t found Sylvia. Sylvia is the most patient, caring person we have ever met. She truly has an amazing gift. She has given us the gift of our horses wanting to be with us, not just tolerating our presence. We can’t thank Sylvia enough and we would highly recommend Sylvia Scott and her training methods to anyone having problems with their horse.

LETTER OF THE MONTH:

October 2006

I would first like to say how pleased I am to have found your web site. I have learned a great deal from reading the articles on training and the Q & A section. I have owned horses for 30 years and trained them using my own "gentle training" before I knew there was such a thing. People told me I would never ride my horses unless I just jumped on and stayed on until she quit bucking. I knew there was a better way. Anyway that was then; my two beloved friends have passed on. I have now purchased a new friend and have learned ways to bond with her that I did not know of before!

LETTER OF THE MONTH:

October 2006

Hi Sylvia, I have great news! I worked with my new horse with the hoof cleaning problems with the instructions you gave me. She was a little difficult at first, but has come around and is going very well. I had the farrier come to trim her hooves. They were in very bad shape as they had not been done in a very long time. I warned him that she may kick out. He is a wonderful man who is a farrier and also trains colts and hard to start horses. He got the rope out with expectations that she may kick but she was wonderful for him! She proved me a liar and I was thrilled.

She was also very difficult when I first tried to worm her. The minute she saw the tube, her head shot up into the air. I dipped it in the molasses, as per your web-site advice, and it took me a few minutes to get it near her lips but the minute she realized what it was, she was all over it. I let her lick a few times and then shot the paste into her mouth...You have boosted my confidence in training my own horses no end!

A. - Internet
