LETTER OF THE MONTH: May 2007 Just because we are excited, here are some pictures of our new colt. Mom was a rescued horse they wanted to put down. We rescued her and spent months fixing her up. The other three horses were also rescued. The four belong to my grand children; the new guy is mine. P.S. I enjoyed your Whispering Way 12-Step Total Training System and Round Pen Leadership DVDs, and we are using them to retrain all four horses.

LETTER OF THE MONTH: May 2007 I've been using your Whispering Way 12-Step Total Training System for 5 days and it's WONDERFUL! I'm working with a 2-year-old horse who is just a sponge! I can now pick up his feet, lateral flex, put his head down to calm him, and he actually lifts his tail when scratched under the tail! I'm amazed! I could just go on and on! Thank you Soooo much, Sylvia Scott, for a Great DVD and Great information! N. R. - Chiefland, Florida
LETTER OF THE MONTH: May 2007 Hi Sylvia. I just wanted to thank you for your great web site. I am the program director of the BC Standardbred Horse Adoption Society. We have found that the natural horsemanship/whispering method to be the best tool in the retraining (I would prefer to call it continuing education) of the Standardbred racehorses. I read your newsletters all the time and have found your training tips and Q&A sections to be invaluable. I also breed Standardbreds and put your instructions on how to deal with biters to use the day after I read your tip! One of my yearling colts decided he would test the boundaries one morning at breakfast and bit me right in the neck (I swear he was going for my jugular!) -- I guess when I didn't bring him his breakfast quick enough. I began the hissing and assertively entered his stall. I proceeded to make my body language and hissing as big and assertive as I could. Well, where he usually would have turned his butt to me and threaten to kick me, he instead was looking for a quick route out of the stall, practically trying to climb the wall to get away from this alpha person! When I had made my point, I just turned and walked out of his stall and closed his door. When he dared to come to the door again and be civilized, I gave him his breakfast! Well, I never laid a hand on him and he wouldn't dare look at me the wrong way again. All I have to do is step toward him when he invades my space in the field and he makes a hasty retreat! Again I thank you! It has been one of my dilemmas on how to satisfactorily handle this common problem with youngsters. Thanks for your time! Sincerely, D. B. - British Columbia, Canada
LETTER OF THE MONTH: May 2007 Hello Sylvia. Thank you so much for all your help! Your videos and emails are as valuable as gold! I now have desensitized my horses to bags, tarps, and just about anything I can expose them to. I must say, the tarp desensitizing has helped so much. After watching your video I put my horse to the test. I went trail riding after several tarp desensitizing sessions and sure enough on our ride, there was a huge spooky tarp covering firewood near a house. It raised up so high it nearly scared me, while my horse didn't even take notice. I am sure that if I hadn't desensitized him via your program, I could have severely been hurt! Thank you so much for all your help! T. H. - Bolivia, North Carolina
LETTER OF THE MONTH: May 2007 Hi Sylvia. My Name is T. I'm from Phalaborwa, South Africa. I have teamed up with a friend of mine (who owns the stables where most of the horses in Phalaborwa are stabled) and we are working together to round pen and train the horses to make them safe riding partners for all involved. I have bought your Round Pen Leadership dvd which I have been using for a while now and I recently bought your Whispering Way 12-Step Total Training System 3-dvd set as well. I also have your book that you co-wrote, plus I have read almost all your newsletters, and continue to study them regularly. I also have your pdf files off your web site. I love your informative web site! We are going to be quite busy with round penning and training our horses here in your program. We are using your whole system, complete from round penning to your 12-Step System. At the end of the sessions, all the horses are much calmer than before they entered, and all of them have head lowered and in submission position. They follow me around the pen, I can move their hind quarters. Thanks for reading this email. I really appreciate it. T. S. - Phalaborwa, South Africa
LETTER OF THE MONTH: May 2007 So far everything I have read on your web site is exactly what I am looking for. Thank you so much for being here! D. L. - Elkland, Missouri
LETTER OF THE MONTH: May 2007 Dear Sylvia, Hi! My name is J. and I am a recovering alcoholic/addict. For the past ten years I have had a problem with drugs and alcohol. I have been in and out of jails, prison, and rehab. Two months ago my mother purchased a seven-year-old Thoroughbred from a shelter for abused horses. He's a beautiful seventeen hands high racehorse, now retired. For the first two weeks my only contact with him was sneaking him carrots etc. Then I went into another rehab, my fourth one. I can't describe my fear that my mother would get rid of this horse; I even had nightmares. My mother is a bully and I know from personal experience that you can't bully anything because it will only grow to resent you. One week after my leaving the sixty-day rehab program I was in, my mother announced that this horse was too aggressive and she was in essence trading him in. I cried, I thought about relapsing, I was heartbroken. The next day I bought the horse from her. It was the best thing I could have done. I now believe that this horse was put into my life for a purpose. My horse is aggressive, but only towards my mother. In reality, he reminds me of me; I understand where he's been and try to understand what he's going through. I have been reading everything on your web site religiously! Following your lessons there, my horse now backs up on cue, goes left when I point left, right when I point right, stops and faces me when I say ho, and most importantly: we trust each other! I've done and still practice the bonding techniques you teach, and yes my finger is constantly in his mouth [to relax him] and now I can squat down and he lowers his head all the way down! This is so wonderful! I just wanted to thank you so much for all the advice! I have experienced a wonderful thing: it's called happiness! Drugs and alcohol are the farthest thing from my mind now. Thank you, thank you, thank you! Sincerely, J. - Internet
LETTER OF THE MONTH: May 2007 Hi Sylvia. I have been reading your round penning lesson with great enthusiasm, and just ordered your Round Pen Leadership DVD. Your detailed lessons are incredible. I have some horsemanship lessons from some of the more..ahh..colorful trainers, but none of them take the time as you do to explain the hands on nuances! G. S. - Tupelo, Mississippi
LETTER OF THE MONTH: May 2007 I am very excited to get started in your program! I have to tell you that I searched and searched for just the right fit for me. When I found your site, I stopped. I can't believe all the great information just on the site. It has already help me and I haven't even picked up my filly yet! K. K. - Renton, Washington
LETTER OF THE MONTH: May 2007 Thank you for your time, knowledge, experience and wonderful work! Thank you most of all for always helping others (horse+owner) and for always being so willing to help! J. H. - Durbanville, Cape Town, South Africa
LETTER OF THE MONTH: May 2007 Sylvia, My horse wouldn't take his bit, kept throwing up his head and fussing, finally taking it, but what a pain! I even had his teeth floated thinking it was because of being uncomfortable. I went to your question & answer section of your web site and saw your advice about putting molasses on the bit. Oh my gosh! I've only done it 2 times, and the third time he couldn't get it in his mouth fast enough! I was just laughing and laughing! Thanks so much, it worked!! Your web site has helped me more than you'll ever know. I've gone to your Q&A page dozens of times and have learned so much! Thank you again!! -The happy cowgirl (carrying molasses). V. R. - Ardmore, Oklahoma
LETTER OF THE MONTH: May 2007 Hello,Sylvia! First, let me say thank you for all the help I have found on your web site over the past two years. I am another "back to the horseworld after children" owner that found this time the horses available in my price range are full of problems...have they become less trained, more sensitive, or more easily "thrown away"? I was always the odd one as a horsekid, who preferred the "Indian" ways of handling horses. I'm so glad this time around there are trainers like you who not only believe almost every horse is a precious being trying to do its best (even if that means trying to stay alive) AND that you can help all of us to help all of them. Bless you! R. S. - Internet
