LETTER OF THE MONTH:
I wanted you to know that I love your Equipedic saddle pad that I got for Christmas. We have an Arabian/Quarter Horse Cross and this pad works very well for him. All the other pads that we put on him seemed to swallow him and never fit well at all. Thanks!!!!!
LETTER OF THE MONTH:
Hi Sylvia, Thanks for all the helpful information you pass along in your monthly newsletters. I emailed you late last summer when I took over the care of an ex-racehorse. Your advice has been invaluable to me and she is coming along fine. We've built mutual trust and she is coming along slowly, but fine with the groundwork. Thanks again for being there.
LETTER OF THE MONTH:
Thank you for the FABULOUS training tips for our 3-year-old PMU (we've had her since 4 months). We are just now starting her, and your methods for bonding, mounting, staying as safe as possible are soooo helpful. We are a bad combo of green + green, so we are especially grateful. Thank you, thank you, for your personal message! I can tell you are over the top with work. We LOVED the newsletter picture of Sentry Gabe - printed it and put it on the refrigerator. The more of your teaching I read, the more you remind me of our wonderful trainer, who handles the BLM mustang adoptions in our region. The advice you packed in your message is so encouraging, because our barn manager/riding instructor has made it clear she thinks PMU's should only be raised by experienced horse people. They started their PMU's at two, and kept pushing us to give our PMU a job, but our trainer is like you and said just keep her minding her manners and start her at three. Now, at three, we are just having her walk with my daughter for a few minutes at each session. Over the weekend I'm going to order your products, a Mother's Day present for all of us. Thank you so much for your support, encouragement, and wisdom.
LETTER OF THE MONTH:
Sylvia, I wanted to let you know how I used your training suggestion. I read before about walking around with plastic bag on stick, waving in front while leading horse behind. Well, I had tried that and liked it. This weekend, I worked in the round pen with my yearling Arabian filly. I'm trying to get her ready for show next month, so I'd like to blanket her. I used Indian saddle blanket first, and finally got her used to it, but other blanket is bright blue, nylon, and a bit noisy. I previously got her to latch on, and follow me without lead rope, so I walked around with blanket in arms, then unfolded, then over my back flapping in the wind. She's such a curious filly that she kept coming up to sniff it. I finally got the blanket on her, and walked her around. I haven't hooked straps yet, but will when I have my husband to hold her. I did the rest all alone. My husband teased me that I wore the blanket more than the filly. The point is SHE WORE IT! Yeah! Thanks for your help.
LETTER OF THE MONTH:
Dear Sylvia, Wow! What can I say? Thank you so much for the advice you gave me. Yes, it worked great! My horse is behaving so much better. I did what you told me and he responded really well. I had been doing the back up thing with him and while I was rewarding him, he tried to bite me and I immediately told him to back up. I only had to do that once and he hasn't tried biting again. I am definitley going to continue with the respect method. Thank you so much! God Bless!
LETTER OF THE MONTH:
Hi Sylvia, I contacted you a long time ago about some problems I was having with a Thoroughbred Mare off the track and you were wonderfully helpful. I really appreciate all your advice and caring. I wanted to also tell you how much I love your website. I can spend hours just reading and re-reading your training tips and helpful advice for different horse problems. When I read your web site I feel like your methods are something I can learn. I have other friends with horses who aren't familiar with you or your methods and I know that they would find them really useful. Being able to bond with my horse and use methods that are kind are very important to me. All I can say Sylvia is that I sooo want to work with you and learn your methods. I feel like I almost know you from your web site, you must hear that a lot! But seriously, I know we would benefit from your help.
LETTER OF THE MONTH:
Hello Sylvia, Every time I load my [former trailer loading problem] gentle Mare, I think about you and the wonderful help you gave me along the way. My horse has traveled out about 4 times within a 30 mile radius and does very well now. When it's time to go home, normally takes 2-3 times and then she loads in all the way. She enjoys watching the scenery at new places so getting her attention is the key. But all is well there and will get only better, I know. Have a wonderful Mothers Day and I know many of your readers and friends alike are thinking about your Son in the military. Hope to see you soon.
If you have a horse problem or question and you don't see it addressed in TRAINING TIPS or if you would like to share your success story with our natural horsemanship training methods...
