LETTER OF THE MONTH: March 2007 Hi Sylvia, Just a brief note to say that I have had remarkable results with your Whispering Way 12-Step Total Training System. My American Saddlebred has come an incredibly long way in a fairly short period of time. So thank you! P. L. - Columbia, South Carolina
LETTER OF THE MONTH: March 2007 Hi Sylvia. Your Whispering Way 12-Step Total Training System training videos were great! I am getting great responses and wonderful work output from both my horses! T. H. - Bolivia, North Carolina
LETTER OF THE MONTH: March 2007 Hi Sylvia. Thanks for getting back to us so quickly and email communication is great. Thanks so much for your ideas and links to your website. We will work on the new techniques. They make a lot of sense. My son's Spanish mustang was supposed to have been somewhat trained with rides on him when we picked him up two years ago. When we arrived, having traveled fifteen hours to get him, the horse did not have any rides on him, he was sick with some type of respiratory thing and was so skittish that I didn't want to take him. The guy was able to halter him, but carefully. But my son, an adult, still wanted him, so home the horse came. To this day any time you move an arm fast or turn fast or anything like that, the horse jumps. You can touch him sort of, but he flinches and has never gotten used to or liked to be touched. I thought about releasing him at a horse sanctuary, but my son wants him. Anyway, when the horse first came here our farrier told us to run him around until he joined up. It didn't make the horse any better, worse in fact. And of course now I know that it was the "mindlessly running him around thing" [that you talk about]. Then I looked up [another leading trainer's] round penning info, tried his join up, same results. So we were at a loss as to what to do with him. We also checked out [another leading trainer's] stuff. That wasn't very understandable. Then I found your website. Wow, it is great. You explain things so well and so fully, and natural horsmanship training is making sense now. I have wanted for so long to learn this, but it never made sense until I found you. Your DVD's [we just purchased] are fantastic and explain everything so well. Thank you for sharing this information with all us horse lovers. I was thinking back to when I learned to ride and none of this was ever taught to us back then; it was all about how you sat on a horse, not about the horse itself and how it processes things. I have told all the horse people I know about your web site and your wonderful DVD's. You are doing a great thing for horses and their people! Let me know if you ever are out in the western states for a training clinic or expo, as I would love to take part and/or at least meet you. Thanks again! M. K. - Pocatello, Idaho
LETTER OF THE MONTH: March 2007 Thanks so much, Sylvia! I appreciate you a lot. I've asked you so many questions and you're so faithful to respond quickly! I've got your DVD series and am enjoying it, keep it up! Thanks again! V. R. - Ardmore, Oklahoma
LETTER OF THE MONTH: March 2007 Sylvia: Wow!! I never expected such a quick in depth reply to my email!! Thank you so very much. I can't wait until this weekend to try your advice and tips. The info on saddles was great. My horse has very high withers and I have tried all sorts of things -- saddles, pads, withers pads, and I'm not sure if I have the right combination yet. To be honest with you I have been subscribing to another trainer's newsletters -- He has some tips, but not like you do. He teases you to want to purchase his "stuff." You already have me hooked on your products--you CARE about your fellow horse people. I know this is a business for you, but at the same time you really want to help people and their horses. You explain in terms that everyone can understand. I feel like a sponge when it comes to learning all I can about horses--I am learning every day!! Thank you again. I am very interested in purchasing your DVD set--just can't do it right now, but I will as soon as possible. I have passed your site on to several of my co-workers at the stables where I work. Thank you once again. M. R. - LaVergne, Tennessee
LETTER OF THE MONTH: March 2007 Dear Sylvia, First of all, thank you so much for the examples and information you've made available on your web site. It has helped us a great deal with our two horses (18-year-old off-the-track thoroughbred gelding and 5-year-old miniature/ hackney pony cross mare). You are directly responsible for the thrill I got having both horses "hook on" their first time in the round pen, and watching them think and absorb and progress so quickly - wonderful! While we lived in Montana for a couple years we worked with and learned from a lady who used [another leading trainer's] NH techniques. That was a great experience, and we learned so much, but I was bothered by the lack of communication and connection with the animal. (This could have been more due to her style than [the leading trainer's] - I don't know.) For some horses, just removing the pressure through the lead rope, or dropping the carrot stick, obviously wasn't enough to make them WANT to work with you. Having been involved in dog training, I tried to fill in the gap with verbal praise - silly, I know, with a horse, but they did seem to pick up on my tone. ;o) The most important things that I learned from the way you work are: communicating through body language, and bonding. Again, thank you so much. We are hoping to be able to purchase your training DVDs, and are excited about your offer of backup email consultation. K. W. - Internet
LETTER OF THE MONTH: March 2007 Your Whispering Way 12-Step Total Training System 3-DVD set is fantastic in its thoroughness, practicality, & instructional value! I am working through it & once the weather gets better, I will start at the beginning with my beloved horse. Warm regards, M.D. K. - Herndon, Virginia
LETTER OF THE MONTH: March 2007 Hi Sylvia. Thanks so much for your words of encouragement; it's really appreciated (and was needed, at this particular point with my horse). I am wanting to really have a very strong/special bond with him and be able to go anywhere and have both of us really enjoy the experiences. I'm very impressed with your web site and all the information you give over it (unlike so many others who make you buy before offering assistance, or the ones that offer free advice, but leave lots of crucial steps out...but don't mention it!). I've been riding for years, have always treated my horses well and had some fantastic bonds; unfortunately, I had to leave my lovely mates behind when I moved to Australia and haven't had a really close connection since I've been in Australia (10 years!!!). I've never followed Natural Horsemanship before, other than what came naturally to me (kindness, respect and consistency) and I really am amazed at how little I knew!!! NH is really amazing stuff...for the first time I totally believe that it's the human and not the horse that makes the errors and that ANY horse can be turned around to be a wonderful, safe and fun friend with the proper techniques. I have "The Seven Games of Parelli NHS" on DVD and have watched it over and over and it has helped. But there are numerous gaps and I've supplemented the DVD's with a NH clinic down south (prior to getting my horse, when I was looking for a horse) plus whatever I can find on the web. Anyway, long story short, I'll definitely be ordering your DVD's from the web...not only is what I've read on your site so far very impressive, your personal support is phenomenal and your DVD prices are unbelievably affordable (but don't up your prices, just cuz' I said that!!!). Sylvia, thanks again for all your time. I'll keep in touch with our progress. Oh yeah, my horse and I started back at the basics, round penning this morning. I hadn't used your exact technique in the past, but I did it this time, and we had an "Ah Ha" moment...both of us!!! I (we) can't wait to see how your DVD tells us how to do it anytime, anywhere!!! It was so amazing and so easy!!! Just what we both needed to get past the standoff we'd come to! Thanks Again!!! K. H. - Mildura West, Victoria, Australia
LETTER OF THE MONTH: March 2007 Hi Sylvia. Just wanted to thank you for taking the time to write back so extensively about my draft cross separation problems. It was really helpful and I enjoy your web site and information very much. Thanks! J. G. - Oak Ridge, North Carolina
LETTER OF THE MONTH: March 2007 Ms. Scott, I just wanted to tell you thank you. My husband and I are both disabled. He is 100% service connected Vietnam veteran and we have just gotten into learning about horses. I found you by asking a few questions on google. We have three acres and lots and lots of time to love a horse or two. Since the other day I have printed every thing I could find on you. You seem so kind to the horses. Your advice has helped a million fold. We have never been around horses but have bought one just last week and are learning as we go. He is an 18-month-old stallion and I know he will be a handful (so far he is calm) and we are getting him gelded next month, but after reading your writings I feel so comfortable around him. Your round pen section is invaluable and just now found you on horse whispering. It was funny because I sing to him and have since I bought him. My little grandchild, age 4 (she was the smallest single birth baby in the United States at one time weighing in at only 13 ounces by the way) made up this song and we both sing it to him. He seems to like it very much and I also breathe in his nose. I can't believe I read that from you. I was told to try it by my son and now you said to do it. That was so remarkable to me. I am 54 years old and plan on going to college in the spring just to learn all I can about horses and get an Assoc. of Science Degree in Ag. Just wanted to say thanks and I will be looking for more articles you write. Will try every thing you say. And hope to see you on one of your trips if we can afford it someday. God Bless. D. H. - Lubbock, Texas
