LETTER OF THE MONTH:

February 2008

Hi Sylvia. I just finished watching your Whispering Way™ Foundation Training Series: Complete Guide to Horse Breeding, Foaling and Foal Training, Featuring Bob Claymier DVD series and WOW. I am so grateful to Bob, Daryl and you for putting together such a comprehensive Breeding and Foaling DVD series. I have never seen anything so complete, and Bob did such a great job explaining in every-day terms.

One of the things that struck me the most was Bob’s way of imprinting. As a trainer, I have had some traumatized and now dangerous horses that went through improper imprinting (terror) so I’ve struggled with the imprinting concept. After watching Bob imprint so gently and lovingly, he should call it "Claymier’s Imprint Method." And it worked so beautifully!!! I know some breeders who won’t imprint at all and others who do it two weeks after the foal is born, terrorizing and torturing the little horse. Bob is right on – a perfect balance.

After watching the DVD series I have a deeper respect for Bob and his commitment to all the parties involved from the stallion to the foal and all the professionals in between. Oh and I was especially impressed that the farrier was there within a few days of the foal's birth, that was great! The care in every step, even examining the afterbirth placenta, I found fascinating.

Bob’s gentleness and immediate training of the foal was awesome to watch, too. It was very affirming that the little ones are capable of learning immediately, but it’s so important to recognize they have a short attention span. It really requires patience and compassion and Bob was so in tune; I really appreciated Bob’s patience and loving gentleness.

I will be encouraging every breeder I know to purchase your Whispering Way™ Foundation Training Series: Complete Guide to Horse Breeding, Foaling and Foal Training, Featuring Bob Claymier DVD series. It’s a MUST HAVE for anyone who breeds or is considering breeding!

Thank you Bob, Daryl and Sylvia for making this information available and understandable. I really enjoyed and learned so much!

Sincerely,

Missy Wryn

I recently purchased your Whispering Way™ Foundation Training Series: Complete Guide to Horse Breeding, Foaling and Foal Training, Featuring Bob Claymier and I wanted to say thank you. This video has helped me tremendously. I have spent countless hours studying breeding books and talking with horse breeders and vets, but I will say Bob's video brought all this information together in an easy to understand compilation. I feel more prepared to assist my mares and I now have a grasp on foal imprinting thanks to Bob's video.

Hi Sylvia. I want to let you know that your Round Pen Leadership and Whispering Way™ 12-Step Total Training System DVDs helped me take my extremely unconfident, untrusting young Missouri fox trotter with a severe "eye changing" problem (first time I'd heard of this was on your DVDs) to his current state of confidence, trust and relaxation under most circumstances. Before learning your natural horsemanship techniques, I never believed I'd be able to ride him outside an arena (and without a big knot in my stomach). We've just now started riding out on trail, and he is relaxed enough to gait without a bit which I was told by the "experts" probably would never happen (he couldn't even gait with one a few months ago). It is not that issues still don't pop up, but now I can "read" my horse's behavior better and can deal with the issues that arise. Right now that often involves getting out of the saddle and working through something safely on the ground when needed.

LETTER OF THE MONTH:

February 2008

Hi Sylvia, I live in the U.K. and have purchased a number of your training aids and your DVD program from your web site, all of which have been invaluable.

I wanted to tell you about my success story with a 4-year- old Arabian mare that I have trained using your methods. She came to me from a friend 5 months ago who owns a stud farm. The friend was hoping I would have the time available to help her mare. The mare had experienced a lightning strike which had killed one of her companions and caused her to jump from the field in fright. Unfortunately, she jumped into woodland that contained sheep wire to stop smaller animals from entering the paddock. Because the strike happened at night, she was caught up in the wire until she was found in the morning. Her injuries were extensive and particularly severe to her hind legs. Veterinary treatment and dressing the wounds continued for a whole year. Luckily, she remained sound, but came to me with the physical and mental scars from this experience.

When she arrived, I couldn't approach or touch her legs. There had been so much treatment history and she was obviously afraid of her legs being handled. She would kick out with the hinds and run over you if you lifted the fronts.

I was planning to back her, but needed to fix all these problems first. I searched the Web looking for foot handling solutions and found your web site. Not only did your methods help me with this issue, but it led to my developing a keen interest in your whispering way techniques.

Your halter and training string have been used extensively and I can now lift and pick out all four feet.

The farrier has been able to trim all her feet, but I must admit we do struggle a little with the hinds because she is still afraid to allow him to hold these for longer periods. However, each time it becomes a little easier.

I have worked with her on the ground exploring all of your techniques starting in the round pen at liberty and then moving through your twelve foundation stages. I finally backed her last week, which was quite an emotional experience, especially because of the journey we had taken together to finally reach this stage. I really couldn't have made it this far without your videos, training tools and web site Q&A. Thank you very much! Kind Regards,

M. A. - Harpenden, Hertfordshire, United Kingdom

February 2008

I have been reading your web site for the past week, as we have agreed to foster a neglected, abused horse thru USERL. She is so afraid and we have been having a time getting our 3 horses and 1 donkey to accept her and she them. It has been a very hard time for me as I am so afraid that someone will get hurt during this adjustment period. She is 18-22 years old with a BCS of 2 and very bad teeth. We so want her to thrive and hopefully find a new happy home. I have been trying to find information on a feeding program for her also. So far your Q&A's on your web site have been sooo helpful. Thank you!

Hi, Sylvia. I'd like to thank you so much for your web site and the service you so unselfishly give to your readers! I print your monthly e-newsletters out, read them, and make an extra copy to give to my riding students for use with their horses at home. Thanks so much!

LETTER OF THE MONTH:

Sylvia: Fig Newtons make a great way of slipping pills to your horse. I use them to give garlic oil to my critters in the summer.

Another treat I use is raisins. If I am doing something "nasty" to the horse, I sprinkle raisins between his lips & gums along his gumline - from about his wolf teeth, all the way around to the other wolf teeth, and I put a few under his tongue. He is quite distracted by this and he mouths and licks, etc., getting every one of those raisins. While he is doing this, I am cleaning his sheath, washing a wound, etc. He seems incapable of misbehaving while working his tongue.

Keep up the good work. Between your web site, your halter, videos, etc. - and fig newtons - I have the best behaved horse on the wagon train!

LETTER OF THE MONTH:

February 2008

I just finished watching your Whispering Way™ Foundation Training Series: Complete Guide to Horse Breeding, Foaling and Foal Training, Featuring Bob Claymier video series. Wow! What a wealth of information. I have to say I wish I would have had these when our mare foaled 2 years ago.

The video series is filled with information that I think is valuable to anyone with a pregnant mare who wants more information on what to expect from pregnancy, to foal imprinting and training. The explanations on when and how to wean the foal were also helpful. I'm not planning a breeding program, but if I were, I know I have the first tool to get started. Bob provides a wealth of information and does a nice job of explaining the commitments required to have a successful breeding program. Anyone who wants to breed their horse would benefit from this video set. I especially enjoyed watching the live foal birth and seeing firsthand information on what to do when the mare foals.

I was equally impressed with Bob's style and patience through the process, as well as his exhibition of Natural Horsemanship principles.
