LETTER OF THE MONTH:
Wow. What a fantastic web site you have. I am an intermediate rider with a 14-year-old mare whom I've had for 2 years. She's a good horse, but hasn't accepted me (and especially not anyone else) as her absolute leader. Your web site is so informative and helpful. I've also just bought an 11-month-old Canadian Colt whom I am going to train the natural horsemanship way. I just wanted to say thanks for such a wonderful site with so many pictures and training information.
LETTER OF THE MONTH:
Hi Syl. I am just so glad I stumbled on your web site first when I needed help the most. You unselfishly started to help me even though you knew I am way too far from you to ever bring my horse to you for a paid clinic. You always reply to my e-mails, even only to keep me encouraged. You are one hell of a great lady. You are truly in this business for the well-being of the horse and its owner and not into just making money or selling your beliefs. Thank you for what you are, I will always keep on trusting your judgement. I will never forget how you helped me and my horse, and still are. You turned me into a strong believer of the natural way and helped me get going in finding a trusting friend in my horse. If not for you, I and my horse would have been highly frustrated with each other by now and maybe even both dead by now! I only wish that I can learn that side of you too on top of NH, being unselfish and concentrating to actually help horse and owner no matter how long it takes.
LETTER OF THE MONTH:
Good afternoon, Sylvia. Well, this morning about 9 a.m. a big thoroughbred Mare went into her new trailer all the way, All 4 feet! She stayed about 30 seconds and then I gave her the voice command "Down" as I could sense she was getting just a little nervous. Then she was praised to the hilt just before she was loaded again! This time she seemed a bit more comfortable but still came out after about a minute, even with her favorite grain in the box. More praise and sweetness, and then she went in and out 3 more times and we called it a morning. Thursday, I will load again and we will travel about a mile and then right back, unload and more praise and happy grazing. Also, I need to bring the divider back over tomorrow. So, still a little work to do on both parts but I feel the war is almost won, for both of us! Will let you know how the traveling goes. Needless to say, I am ever so grateful to you for your professional advice and constant encouragement. I never thought I could do this and even left several messages for recommended trainers that never called me back. That's when I decided to seek out help and do the job myself and contacted you. Nothing has been easy with this horse, except for her splended disposition. She is ever so sweet and even munched hay around her new traveling home while I swept it out and cleaned up. She never broke a sweat! My husband and I travel to MD about 6 times a year as we have much family still there - Roanoke, VA is about half-way for us. Next trip I would love to contact you and stop by (I have flown into Blacksburg, VA in my plane about 5 years ago on a fuel stop) for a personal visit should you have time. Words cannot thank you enough for your kind assistance. I was ever so fortunate to find you on the web. I need to order your training wand......tapping her gently with a small branch was ok for today but I need the good tool. Enjoy your day. Forever in your debt,
LETTER OF THE MONTH:
Winchester (the adopted Belgian Cross in Wisconsin) is doing very well. We have bonded strongly and he trots to me when I go out to the pasture. I am so pleased with his progress! I want to thank you for your wonderful web site and the Q&A!!
LETTER OF THE MONTH:
Dear Sylvia: Just to tell you (quickly, I know you are a very busy lady!) - I received the halter and rope from you and also your book about natural horse training - I am pleased to tell you it is really working for my mare. It is early days, and I haven't had that much time to really work on her as I am studying and working full time at the moment, but I have started the exercises with her and have noticed a great improvement already - particularly with the stroking of secret places - she makes her top lip into a kind of finger shape and makes very gentle circular movements all round my face and hair and neck, which is very cute and kind!! Also I have learned not to be so terrified of her whilst leading her out - although she can still play up sometimes, I know that it is me in charge and I can deal with her a lot better than I did before I spoke to you. Thank you so much for all your help, Sylvia, it means so much. Best wishes,
If you have a horse problem or question and you don't see it addressed in TRAINING TIPS or if you would like to share your success story with our natural horsemanship training methods...
