Round Penning makes use of the natural "hard-wiring" of the equine mind to look for a leader, and to accept the leadership of the one who can move his/her feet. All handling skills - whether from the ground or in the saddle - begin in the round pen. Directing movement, pace, gaits, turns, stops, flexing, etc., can all be started in the round pen, with the horse at liberty (no halter). (1 hour 20 minutes)
