The responsibility of owning a horse is something
that many horse owners both young and young
at heart take very seriously. All too often
horses are described as “dumb, “less than bright,”
or my least favorite “that breed is a little
slow.“ At the same time a potential horse
owner or enthusiast may consider him/herself
as incapable of riding a horse. As a high
school teacher I have heard similar untrue character
descriptions of students regarding their ability
to learn or perform. Patrick Fox’s Education
Program exists to dispel the above negative
thoughts or characterizations. After a great
deal of research I chose to attend the John
and Josh Lyons Certified Training Program in
Parachute, Colorado. Their innate ability to
train any horse to perform what is expected
of the horse was astounding. The method of “conditional
response” for horse training is by far the best
way to get a horse to respond long term to rider
commands. Patrick Fox’s Equine Education Program
trains the horse to be safely ridden, but also
trains the rider to ride the horse safely.
