Patti Haddon

Patti Haddon  - www.simplypk.com/haddon
For 20 years, Patti Haddon has trained and instructed at Kettle Creek Ranch in Colorado Springs which is managed by her husband Ken. Patti has studied with Ray Hunt since 1983, as well as Lynn Palm for the past several years.  Patti was one of 60 clinicians who participated in an invitational clinic to benefit Tom Dorrance held in Fort Worth, Texas, in February 2001. Patti is a believer in continuing education for her students and horses, as well as herself. Patti's goal is to help horse and rider work together as a team with ease, while moving toward "The rider thinking it and the horse doing it." "No gimmicks, just simple, honest training that works for horse and rider." With a blend of classical and modern horsemanship, Patti's training program ranges from haltering weanlings to starting young horses and advancing the mature horse. She also gives lessons ranging from novice to advanced levels, both Western and English, and many of her students and horses have gone on to compete successfully in western pleasure, halter, trail, hunt seat, 4-H, cattle work and dressage.

  Jim Rea

Jim Rea - www.gentlehorses.com
Jim Rea, trainer and clinician, is devoted to a natural approach to horse care, natural horsemanship and training. His primary focus is helping owners who have horses with behavior problems more severe than they are capable of correcting, where many of these horses have injured their owners or trainers. Jim's objective in training is ending up with a safe, calm dependable horse that will willingly do what we ask it to do, when we ask it to do it; horses are almost always eager to please if they understand what it is we want and if we provide them with dependable leadership.

Estes Park, Colorado

Mark Rashid - www.markrashid.com
Mark Rashid, trainer, author, and clinician has committed himself to finding the quiet but effective ways of communicating with horses to resolve even the most difficult of problems. His focus is always based upon assessing the situation from the horse's point of view and his philosophy embraces the concept of "Passive Leadership" with horses. "Passive Leadership" challenges the traditional "alpha" approach to being with horses. Passive leaders have "earned" that particular title with the other horses by showing them they can be dependable in their passive behavior from one day to the next.  In other words, they lead by example, not by force.

Holly McKamey

Holly McKamey - www.thehorsegate.com
Enter into a new understanding of horses through The Horse Gate. Holly McKamey (Watkins) has a Bachelor of Science in Equine Science from Colorado State University, apprentice experience under several successful horse trainers, and has worked with horses professionally in Colorado, California, and Ecuador, South America. Holly observes that no matter what breed of horse, what country you ride in, or what discipline you ride, a horse is still a horse. She believes the best way to train a horse is to train the owner and she works with both horses and owners to meet in the middle. Her training tools come from a broad base of equine schools of thought, including Dressage, Western, and Natural Horsemanship. She believes that training should be safely enjoyed by both the horse and rider. Safety is first, and fun is a byproduct of good training. Owning, riding, and handling a horse shouldn’t be stressful. Holly started The Horse Gate in 2003 with flexible services and a practical approach to horse training that echoes her encouraging belief, "You can do it, I can help!"
