Roxanne discovered both horses and John Lyons training methodology through her niece, Tammy. Visiting Tammy many times in Colorado during the 2001 cert. class she had the opportunity to observe and ride with the class. A fellow classmate of Tammy's made a suggestion of "You should go through next year's certification program." And that's what happened. Roxanne spent the next year devoting all of her free time either riding or researching everything equestrian to prepare herself for the John Lyons Certification program, which she graduated from in 2002. Had she had any doubts in the Lyons method of training, Roxanne found proof positive in her horses at the end of the program and also in the resulting win by Josh Lyons in the "In a Whisper" Challenge in Texas, August 3, 2002 that she attended with her classmates. Even though she does not have a lifetime of experience, she more than compensates for that with her determination and intense focus to keep learning and improving her training skills.

Doug has been training horses for the past seven years. He began training by trial and error, gradually honing his skills through experience and forgiving horses. Doug is gifted with a remarkable natural ability and authoritative presence which horses respond well to. Over the years he has studied numerous training articles, books, and videos by a variety of renowned trainers, adding and adapting his training methods from each. While his wife, Tammy, was in Colorado training in the Lyons program, Doug had the opportunity to learn through her experience as well. He was able to ride with both Tammy and Roxanne's class, during which time he got to know Josh Lyons. After observing Doug work with horses, Josh invited him to do private instruction, which will make Doug the only Josh Lyons Accredited Trainer to date. Traveling with Josh in 2003 has improved his public speaking and teaching skills, as well as adding performance oriented training skills. Doug continued his studies with Josh in Colorado in August of 2004 and earned a certificate of accreditation.

Tammy got started training horses seven years ago. She watched other people try to force horses into trailers with ropes, pain, and strong-arm tactics. Observed a fair bit of "abuse the horse in the name of training" and decided there had to be a better way. Tammy began researching trainers and methods. After more than a dozen books and about 60 videos it became clear to her that the John Lyons method was exactly what she was looking for. An accident or stroke of luck landed her, not in a 7 day riding clinic as she intended, but in a 7 month certification program. Tammy graduated in 2001 and was invited to be in the John Lyons Wrangler Select Trainer Program. Tammy will be participating in continuing education clinics with John and Josh Lyons every two years as part of the Select Program. The skills and methods Tammy acquired and practiced during the certification program, combined with all she learned during her research, and an amazing natural ability for "feel and timing" have culminated in a truly gifted horse trainer.
